Our Training Institute

Since 1981, ICADV has provided training on a statewide and regional level for those working to end domestic violence in Illinois. Through these trainings, we work to empower advocates with the tools and knowledge they need to give survivors the support and assistance they deserve.

In Person and Online

Each year we coordinate many trainings, both in person and online. The training topics vary since we try to continually focus on current trends and issues affecting the field today.

ICADV Is a Continuing Education Unit Provider

ICADV provides training that counts towards continuing education units (CEUs) for Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals (ICDVP), Partner Abuse Intervention Professionals (CPAIP), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPC), and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW). To learn more about becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional, visit their website at www.ilcdvp.org.

Online Training Modules

We offer five online training modules that count towards Domestic Violence Professional certification. Our 20 hours of online courses count towards half of the 40 hours of training required to work directly with survivors in Illinois.

Leadership Academy

In 2017, ICADV launched its first Leadership Academy, a year-long intensive initiative years in the making. This academy brings together a cohort of multidisciplinary professionals to develop their individual skills and community focus in leading the movement to end domestic violence and other social injustices.

If you’re interested in other trainings, you can browse our upcoming events using the link below. We add new in-person trainings throughout the year, so check back or sign up for our newsletter (sign up below in the footer) to keep up with all of our events.

Training events will not always visible to the public as priority is given to ICADV Program Council agencies and sometimes also agencies funded by the Illinois Department of Human Services.  If seats are available, registration will open to the public one week prior to the registration due date.
