Therefore, for the purposes of this website, victims generally are referred to as she/her and perpetrators are generally referred to as he/him. ICADV MISSION STATEMENT

  • Eliminate domestic abuse in the State of Illinois, with primary focus on women and their children.
  • Provide local services to the victims of domestic violence. Including crisis telephone counseling, and/or temporary shelter for the victim and their dependent children, and/or peer and professional counseling, and/or assistance in obtaining community resources, and/or help in acquiring employment skills, and/or work referral.
  • Expose the roots of domestic violence, with primary emphasis on the institutionalized subservience of women.
ICADV, a membership organization, executes this mission through:
  • Statewide training of service providers working with victims of domestic violence,
  • Information and referral to local resources,
  • Providing technical assistance to domestic violence programs statewide,
  • Providing public education materials,
  • Offering a lending library, and
  • Implementing public policy.
